India’s first robotic surgical system, 'SSI Mantra', has received regulatory approval for telesurgery and teleproctoring. The system, developed by SS Innovations, enables surgeons to perform operations remotely and train others via teleproctoring.Telesurgery could improve access to specialized medical care in remote regions and reduce the burden of travel for patients. The system has been used in over 2,000 surgeries with zero mortality and has the potential to address healthcare disparities in underserved areas.
