India's Gems And Jewellery Exports Drop 11.72% In 2024-25 Amid Geopolitical Tensions

  • India's overall gems and jewellery exports declined by 11.72% to $28.5 billion in 2024-25, compared to the previous financial year.
  • The decline is attributed to the continuous dip in demand in China and the US, India's key export markets, due to ongoing geopolitical tensions.
  • Exports of cut and polished diamonds decreased by 16.75% to $13,292.0 million (Rs 1.12 lakh crore) in 2024-25 compared to the previous year.
  • Other categories such as polished lab-grown diamonds, gold jewellery, silver jewellery, platinum jewellery, and coloured gemstones also saw declines in exports.
