India’s top carmakers, including Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Tata, Mahindra, Toyota and Kia, are planning to launch new 7-seater SUVs to tap into the growing demand in the market.
Maruti Suzuki is set to introduce the three-row Grand Vitara 7-seater SUV in the second half of 2025, sharing its platform and powertrains with the 5-seater sibling.
Hyundai is planning to launch a petrol-hybrid 7-seater SUV, codenamed Ni1i, by 2027. It will be produced at the carmaker's Talegaon manufacturing facility and bridge the gap between the Alcazar and Tucson.
Tata Motors is expected to introduce the electric version of the Safari SUV, named Tata Safari EV, in 2025 or 2026. It will be based on the new Acti.ev platform and offer a range of around 500km on a single charge.
