Intuitive Surgical conducted a meta-analysis of surgical outcomes across seven oncologic procedures comparing robotic, laparoscopic, and open surgeries.
The analysis found that da Vinci robotic surgery showed benefits in terms of fewer conversions, less blood loss, fewer blood transfusions, fewer readmissions and reoperations, and shorter length of stay after 30 days.
Da Vinci cases were 56% less likely to convert to open surgery compared to laparoscopy and showed less blood loss compared to open surgery.
The study did not review oncologic outcomes, but focused on 30-day surgical outcomes and demonstrated the value of robotics in surgical care.
