Intuitive Machines’ Athena lunar lander is dead, just one day after it touched down at the moon’s south pole and tipped over. The mission marks the second time in a row that Intuitive Machines has landed a spacecraft on the moon only to have the mission go sideways. The spacecraft cannot recharge its batteries due to the orientation of the solar panels, direction of the sun, and extreme cold temperatures.Intuitive Machines was able to deploy the Polar Resources Ice Mining Experiment and other undisclosed experiments.
