iOS 18.1 is finally here, but this is not the Apple Intelligence you’ve been looking for
- Apple Intelligence has finally arrived with the release of iOS 18.1, iPad OS 18.1 or macOS Sequoia 15.1 but feels underwhelming after the billing by Apple.
- The update offers Writing Tools for proofreading, summarization, Notification summaries, Clean Up in Photos, and a redesigned Siri.
- Siri is not any smarter than before and is yet to have a proper ChatGPT integration which may arrive with iOS 18.2 by the end of the year.
- Apple's photo editing feature underwhelms compared to competitors like Google Gemini, Meta AI and Samsung Galaxy AI.
- AI features are hidden in the background that may be easily missed by users. Apple's requirements for the iPhone are extremely high to use the AI features.
- Apple's release is starting to feel like a whimper due to the geographically scattered nature of the rollout which won't be available on iPhone in the UK until December and April for the rest of Europe.
- In December, Image Playground for creating AI images, Genmoji for creating custom emoji etc., and a much-improved Mail app is expected to be launched.
- Overall, users might feel a little bit underwhelmed with the current update of Apple Intelligence.
