iPadOS 26 Gets New 3D Graphing Feature for Math Notes

  • Apple introduced a new 3D graphing feature for Math Notes in iOS 26 and iPadOS 26.
  • Math Notes feature was added in iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 to solve math problems and equations in the Notes app or Calculator app.
  • On the iPhone, Math Notes works with typed equations, while on the iPad, handwritten equations using the Apple Pencil are supported.
  • In iOS 26 and iPadOS 26, Math Notes can now create 3D graphs for equations with three variables.
  • Users can tap on a variable in the equation and select the Insert 3D graph option to visualize the graph.
  • The 3D graphs can be enlarged, resized, and moved through tap and drag gestures.
  • The feature is more suitable for the iPad due to its larger display area, offering better usability for graphing.
  • The 3D graphing functionality can be beneficial for visualizing linear algebra and multivariable calculus concepts.
  • Graphs generated can be copied and pasted into other applications for further use.
  • iOS 26 and iPadOS 26 are currently in developer testing phase with a public beta expected in July and a full release in September.
