iPhone and Android users will soon be able to send encrypted RCS messages to each other.
The GSM Association (GSMA) has published new specifications for the RCS protocol, including support for cross-platform end-to-end encryption (E2EE).
RCS is a communication protocol that enables SMS-style messaging with rich features, and the new E2EE mechanism will provide the highest level of privacy and security for RCS users.
This will make RCS the first large-scale messaging service to support interoperable E2EE between client implementations from different providers.
