Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corp. (IRCTC) has stopped paying compensation to passengers for delays in private trains, as revealed by an RTI response.
The compensation scheme, which gave Rs 26 lakh to passengers from Oct. 4, 2019, to Feb. 16, 2024, has been discontinued since February 15, 2024.
IRCTC operates two Tejas trains, one between New Delhi and Lucknow and the other between Ahmedabad and Mumbai.
The decision to stop compensation was a part of marketing activities to attract passengers towards private trains.
