Arizona architecture studio I/Thee has created a public installation in an Iowa park composed of furniture affixed into two rammed earth walls that were made to look eroded by applying water pressure.
The installation, called the Dining Room, is the first of six pavilions planned for the ARTocka Trail Loop in Bondurant, Iowa.
The walls of the pavilion were constructed using locally sourced sand, clay, and gravel and were intentionally eroded to create a natural and playful appearance.
The pavilion showcases the potential of rammed-earth construction and aims to bridge the gap between human-made and natural elements.
