Twitter cofounder Jack Dorsey believes people are leaving Twitter (referred to as X in the article) and not necessarily running to Bluesky, an alternative platform he helped create.
Dorsey mentioned that building a product solely based on users running away from another platform isn't ideal, and they want users who are running towards Bluesky for unique features and capabilities.
Bluesky is a stand-alone public benefit corporation that developed an algorithm store, allowing users to choose their own algorithms. This feature is expected to attract users in the future, but currently, the primary motivation for users to switch platforms is to avoid X for personal reasons.
Bluesky saw a surge in user signups after several users left X following the election of President Trump. Bluesky currently has around 25.9 million users and aims to provide a billionaire-proof open-source social network.
