In 2014, Jeff Bezos introduced the "Pay to Quit" program at Amazon, offering employees up to $5,000 (about Rs 4.1 lakh) to voluntarily leave the company, according to a report published by MoneyControl.
The goal of this program was to encourage employees to think about their true career aspirations and retain a dedicated and enthusiastic workforce.
The offer started at $2,000 and increased by $1,000 each year, with the headline, "Please Don't Take This Offer," to encourage employees to stay.
However, it was later suspended during labor shortages caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and is now offered to graduates of Amazon's Career Choice upskilling program.
