Ethereum Foundation researcher Justin Drake has proposed a comprehensive redesign of Ethereum's consensus layer called 'Beam Chain'.
The proposal aims to achieve faster transaction finality, lower validator stake requirements, and incorporate native zero-knowledge (ZK) proof support.
The plan includes reducing block production times and validator stakes to broaden accessibility and participation.
The proposal is still in early stages and will require community consensus. A potential timeline includes specification development in 2025, building in 2026, and a two-year testing phase.
