Keeping it peachy in Atlanta, Georgia!

  • Atlanta, Georgia is a strong cultural hub for American food, music and film. It is home to a number of iconic brands such as Waffle House, Chick-fil-A and Dunkin' Donuts and served as the childhood home of rap artists 2 Chainz, Ludacris, Migos, Future and Gucci Mane. The city is also the largest feature film producer in the US, overtaking Hollywood. Atlanta is the home to many active and former unicorns like Spanx, Calendly, and Mailchimp. Recently, Atlanta has become a magnet for tech giants like Apple and Airbnb. However, the lack of funding has limited Atlanta's growth as compared to New York and San Francisco, becoming the 15th for capital invested in the US.
  • Atlanta's ecosystem supports start-ups and investors to flourish rapidly. The city has a history of entrepreneurship and a highly collaborative founder community. Some of the stand-out founders shaping the community are Paul Judge (Tuloko, Pindrop), H. Lamar Willis (Greenwood Project), and Jewel Burks Solomon (Partpic). Atlanta has become a natural home for fintech start-ups because of its strong payments infrastructure, while several cyber security start-ups such as Pindrop (voice security), Ionic Security (data protection), and Bastille (wireless threat detection) have emerged in the city. Other successful industries in Atlanta include healthcare, supply chain, and logistics.
  • Atlanta needs an influx of capital to ensure that key talent and start-ups stay within the city. Limited funding has caused many founders to relocate to other cities like San Francisco and New York. An opportunity for venture capitalists to unlock the potential within Atlanta's educational institutes exists. Despite being the Southeastern hub for the region's only US Patent and Trademark office, more support is needed. The city is on track to become a top 5 US city for innovation.
