Kia plans to launch two new mass-market electric models in emerging markets, including India, with the first likely being the electric versions of the Carens and Syros.
The Syros EV, set to compete with the Tata Nexon EV and Mahindra XUV400, is expected to share the K1 platform with the Hyundai Inster EV sold in select global markets.
The Kia Syros EV is anticipated to feature two NMC battery pack options, FWD system, aero-optimized alloy wheels, and EV-specific design elements while retaining most features from the ICE version.
Kia aims to sell a combined volume of 50,000 - 60,000 units of the Kia Carens EV and Syros EV by 2026, with the Syros EV expected to be priced higher than its ICE counterpart in the range of Rs 15 lakh - Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom).
