Korean Air plans to build an Urban Air Mobility and Aviation Safety Research and Development Center in Bucheon, Gyeonggi Province, with an investment of KRW 1.2 trillion (USD 875 million).
The new center will focus on advanced air transportation research, pilot training, and safety advancements to lead in future air mobility, following Korean Air's integration with Asiana Airlines.
The facility is scheduled to open in May 2030, covering over 65,800 square meters and employing more than 1,000 personnel, including experts in engineering, flight training, and aviation safety.
The center will include a UAV Research Center for unmanned aerial vehicles, a Flight Training Center for pilot training, and a Safety Experience Center for hands-on safety training and community education.
