Krafton is delaying the release of Subnautica 2 into 2026, causing the studio to miss out on a $250 million bonus meant for employees.
The delay led to the removal of three senior figures at the studio, including co-founder Charlie Cleveland, who expressed shock at the decision.
Krafton's new CEO, Steve Papoutsis, mentioned in an all-hands meeting that the decision for the delay was not specifically to avoid paying the bonus.
Krafton confirmed the delay, stating it is to give themselves 'a little extra time', amidst disagreements about the game's readiness between former Unknown Worlds leadership and Krafton.
