Online retail giant Amazon is facing a lawsuit accusing the company of purposely slowing down Prime delivery service in two predominantly Black neighborhoods in Washington, D.C.
The lawsuit alleges that customers in the affected ZIP codes were still charged for Prime delivery while experiencing delayed deliveries and having to rely on third-party services.
D.C. Attorney General Brian L. Schwalb filed the lawsuit, claiming that Amazon failed to inform Prime members in the regions about the changes and did not disclose the delivery exclusions to new customers.
Amazon defended its actions, stating that the changes were made to prioritize driver safety due to targeted acts of violence in the affected neighborhoods.
