Chief human resource officers (CHROs) are increasingly becoming key advisors to company boards and integral to corporate strategy, with 70% of surveyed corporate secretaries stating that CHRO engagement with the board has increased in the past three years.
The expanded role of CHROs includes involvement in business and financial strategy, workforce and labor market strategy, operational efficiency, leadership succession planning, and support for mergers and acquisitions and growth strategy.
To deepen their influence, CHROs should focus on building trust, demonstrating business expertise, aligning with the CEO, and engaging with the board.
Despite some challenges, the CHRO role is the third fastest-growing C-suite role, reflecting the increasing focus on people and human capacity.
