Chennai-based startup Wheelocity aims to tap into the untapped market of rural India by building a platform that enables people in semi-urban and rural areas to shop online.
They are focused on providing a 100x better alternative to consumers in these areas and have taken a 'phygital' approach, using electric three-wheelers to physically deliver goods and gain the trust of consumers.
The startup currently offers its e-commerce platform in 3,500 villages and plans to scale to 20,000 towns and villages in the next 12 months.
Lightspeed, Wheelocity's existing investor, has led its Series A2 funding round of $15 million, recognizing the large and untapped market size and the startup's unique business model.
