NASA has created sonifications of black holes, turning images into sounds to convey data from telescopes like James Webb Space Telescope and Chandra X-ray Observatory.
The sonifications depict different stages in the life of a black hole, such as WR 124, a Wolf-Rayet star that could become a black hole as it sheds layers of gas into space.
Another sonification is of SS 433, a binary system with a star and a heavier companion, possibly a black hole or a neutron star, showcasing changes in X-rays detectable from Earth.
The third sonification features Centaurus A galaxy with a supermassive black hole at its core that emits a jet, represented in the sonification through X-ray data as wind chime sounds.
