Meet Rebecca Green, a stay-at-home mom of a family of four who loves going on family field trips, blogging, and authoring a book.
The family is heart-centered, where the parent's hearts are always open for each other and people around them, and they put their hearts into whatever they’re doing.
Rebecca loves to cook, has a flair for modern design. She is a Gemini, loves trail running and entertain, and believes that glitter and sarcasm keep her balanced. Her husband, Joel practices law at a big firm in D.C.
The family lives in Sixteenth Street Heights, D.C., which is surrounded by stately 1920s homes bordering Rock Creek Park, providing a range of activities for families.
Rebecca keeps it real on her blog, where she shares the activities and field trips that she does with her family, giving parents insight into how they can entertain and educate their children while keeping themselves engaged and interested.
One of the most wonderful things about living in D.C. is the access to many historical sites and museums. The greens visited Antietam Battlefield, signing the kids up for the National Parks’ Junior Ranger Program and purchasing National Parks’ passports for them.
Rebecca completed her manuscript for the book last school year, which is now in the editing and designing phases. It’s an activity-based book for parents that shares her approach to entertaining and educating children.
Rebecca wishes somebody had told her that 99% of the time you will have no idea what you are doing, but that is not a reason not to do it.
Rebecca’s approach to parenting is to help children be comfortable with uncertainty and provide them the tools to assess, analyze and work through it.
In sum, towards the end of the article, Rebecca talks about her move to Sixteenth Street Heights, the D.C real estate market, her experiences staying away from law practice to take care of her children, and what she wants to be when she grows up.
