Lyft is set to start rolling out a feature that will let riders opt in to be matched with a licensed taxi when that vehicle can get there faster than a rideshare one.
Lyft will launch this feature in St. Louis on May 5, marking its first taxi integration in the U.S.
Users who opt in to this feature may be picked up in a taxi when they request certain kinds of rides, and they will be able to pay, tip, and rate the cab within the Lyft app.
Rival rideshare service Uber already includes taxis in its platform in select markets in the U.S. and overseas.
