Design studio Atelier NL is using the clay from the widening of the Maas river in the Netherlands to produce ceramic plates, bowls, and cups. They are also turning the clay into bricks that can be sold or donated to local schools for clay modelling experiments. The clay is a byproduct of the Meanderende Maas infrastructure project, which aims to strengthen the dike and floodplains.Atelier NL hopes to showcase the versatility of river clay and provide opportunities for others to work with it.
