<ul><li>Maharashtra signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Russia's ROSATOM for the development of a small modular reactor based on thorium fuel.</li><li>The MoU aims to jointly develop a thorium reactor, commercialize them, and establish an assembly line under the 'Make in Maharashtra' initiative.</li><li>The Maharashtra Institution for Transformation will provide strategic support for the project, following the guidelines of the Government of India and AERB.</li><li>A joint working group will be formed to facilitate coordination and research, involving representatives from Mahagenco, Rosatom Energy Projects, MITRA, and Global Technology Alliance.</li></ul>
