Maharashtra government has decided to cancel its electric bus contract with Olectra Greentech due to repeated delivery delays.
The contract aimed to add 5,150 electric buses to the state's public transport fleet but has been scrapped as the company failed to meet the timeline.
Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik confirmed the cancellation, stating that only 220 buses were delivered out of the expected 2,000, with a target of 1,200 buses by May 2025.
The government sought legal advice and is moving forward with terminating the contract due to the delays.
