<ul><li>A majority of 28 states want an increase in tax revenue distribution between the Centre and states to 50 percent, according to Finance Commission chairman Arvind Panagariya.</li><li>States currently receive 41 percent of tax revenue while the remaining goes to the Centre.</li><li>More than 22 states have recommended the share to be raised to 50 percent, including Uttar Pradesh.</li><li>The 16th Finance Commission of India is tasked with recommending tax revenue distribution and is expected to submit its report by October 31, 2025.</li></ul>
