Manuel Cervantes Estudio's temporary housing project is located in Palenque, Chiapas, Mexico, within rubber tree plantations to assist migrant workers.
The architectural intervention aims to provide temporary housing that adapts to the local climate and working conditions for workers from Haiti, Mexico, Central, and South America.
The modular system includes worker and family modules, cooking and cleaning units, designed with bamboo facades, elevated concrete frames, and reflective roofs to minimize heat absorption.
The project prioritizes passive environmental strategies, such as natural shading and cross-ventilation, to support migrant workers in a humid-subtropical climate with low environmental impact.
