Mazda has revealed two electric vehicles (EVs) developed with its Chinese joint venture partner Changan, with the EZ-6 mid-size liftback and EZ-60 mid-size electric SUV. The 6e, an export version of the EZ-6, is expected to launch in Australia in the near future, with right-hand drive availability confirmed.
The Mazda 6e offers a single-motor rear-wheel drive electric powertrain producing 190kW of power and 320Nm of torque. It comes with a choice of two battery options, offering differing ranges and charging capabilities.
Mazda Australia is focusing on the business case for EVs and exploring potential expansion into the electric vehicle market. The company aims to offer EVs in response to the government's push to reduce carbon footprint in Australia.
In addition to the 6e, Mazda is considering introducing the EZ-60 electric SUV to Australia. The EZ-60's specifications, including measurements and powertrain details, have been shared but full specifications are yet to be released by Mazda.
