Meet IIT Bombay graduate who quit high-paying corporate job to become a monk at 29

  • Sanket Parekh, an IIT Bombay graduate, took an unconventional path after working as a chemical engineer in the US. Introduced to Jainism by a senior at IIT, Bhavik Shah, who had taken 'Diksha' in 2013, Parekh delved into the philosophy of the soul, mind, and body.
  • Despite being an atheist, he left his high-paying job, spent two and a half years learning Jain rituals under Acharya Yugbhushansurji, and ultimately chose the path of a monk.
  • Parekh, who once paid Rs 12 lakh per annum in income tax, stated, "I would have got everything if I had decided to have a career, but my inner self would never have been at peace like it is today."
  • Despite initial resistance from his mother, he convinced her that this path was essential for his happiness.
