Meta is expanding safety measures for teenagers on Instagram by blocking livestreaming and extending safeguards to Facebook and Messenger platforms.
Under-16s will need parental permission to use Instagram's Live feature and to turn off the blurred image feature in direct messages.
The changes coincide with the extension of teen accounts on Instagram, Facebook, and Messenger, with parental controls and time limits.
Meta reported that 54 million under-18s use Instagram teen accounts, and aims to empower parents with more control over their children's online safety.
