Meta, the owner of Facebook and Instagram, is considering charging UK users for an ad-free version of its platforms.
The consideration comes after Meta settled a privacy case, agreeing to stop targeting users with ads based on their personal data.
The lawsuit was filed by Tanya O’Carroll, a human rights campaigner, who alleged that Meta breached UK data laws by using her personal data for targeted ads without her consent.
Meta is also exploring the option of introducing a subscription service in the UK.
