Meta is bidding to build high-tech wearables for the US Army in a project called EagleEye with Anduril Industries, worth around $100 million.
EagleEye will include tech-forward helmets, glasses, and other wearables providing augmented reality and virtual reality experiences to enhance soldiers' hearing and vision.
The devices may be used to detect drones from a distance, interact with AI-powered weapon systems, and suss out hidden targets, powered by Anduril's autonomy software and Meta's AI models.
Palmer Luckey, involved in the project, is a prominent figure in defense technology, with significant government contracts and partnerships in the tech industry.
