Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, is implementing performance-based layoffs starting Monday.
The layoff process will be implemented in waves across different regions, starting with Asia-Pacific and ending with North and Latin America.
Impacted employees will receive notification emails and severance details. Around 5% of Meta's 'lowest performers' will be let go.
Meta aims to realign its team by hiring machine learning engineers and other critical engineers while focusing on strategic goals such as the metaverse and artificial intelligence.
