Meta Platforms Inc. plans to invest hundreds of billions of dollars in new data centers to support its AI development efforts.
The company launched Meta Superintelligence Labs, a new AI unit led by machine learning researchers poached from rivals like OpenAI.
The first data center cluster, Prometheus, is set to launch next year, consuming multiple gigawatts of power with industry-leading levels of compute.
Meta's upcoming data centers, like Hyperion, may utilize its internally-developed AI processor, MTIA v1, to support generative AI workloads alongside Nvidia GPUs.
