Chinese-owned carmaker MG is preparing to unveil a new ute, possibly the MG P9, which is a rebadged version of the Maxus Star X that will also be sold in Australia as the LDV Terron 9.
MG Motor Australia aims to have a ute on sale in the country as part of its plans to become one of the top-selling brands.
The rebadged Maxus Star X/LDV Terron 9 may be equipped with a 2.5-litre turbo-diesel engine producing 164kW of power, and it is also available in an electric variant, the eTerron 9.
If brought to Australia, the MG P9 would enter a highly competitive market, as utes accounted for nearly 19% of all new vehicle sales between January and November 2024.
