The Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (Mhada) has issued show cause notices to 25 employees for attempting to influence their transfers using external recommendations.
The employees, mostly from Class III and IV categories, sought to avoid transfers or secure desired postings by submitting letters from elected representatives.
Mhada's internal policies allow a maximum of two three-year tenures in a specific post for non-secretariat Class III employees. Class IV staff can be transferred based on complaints or administrative decisions.
The persistence of external influence in staff postings highlights challenges to enforcing transfer policies, despite a decade-old circular prohibiting the use of recommendation letters from influential individuals.
