Microsoft and Atom Computing have achieved a new milestone in building fault-tolerant quantum computers.
Microsoft plans to deliver the quantum capabilities of these computers to customers by the end of 2025 through Azure cloud service and on-premises hardware.
The collaboration has successfully connected 256 noisy neutral-atom qubits to create a system with 24 logical qubits, the highest number achieved.
The quantum computer will integrate Atom's neutral-atom hardware with Microsoft's qubit-virtualization system, providing opportunities for research and exploration in various fields.
