Microsoft has announced that it is making almost all of the Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL) open source during its Build developer conference.WSL, introduced in 2016, provides developers and power users access to a Linux command line and applications within Windows.The move to open source WSL comes after years of improvements in performance, installation ease, and addition of features like GPU and audio support.Microsoft acknowledged the contributions of the community to WSL and looks forward to allowing direct code contributions through open sourcing.
