Microsoft announced that over 394,000 Windows computers were infected by the Lumma malware globally between March 16 and May 16.
Microsoft's digital crimes unit, with the help of law enforcement, dismantled Lumma's infrastructure and domains, seizing control of its central command structure.
The U.S. Department of Justice, along with Japan's cybercrime control center, facilitated the suspension of Lumma's infrastructure to protect victims.
Other tech companies like Cloudflare, Bitsight, and Lumen also collaborated to disrupt the Lumma malware ecosystem, used extensively by cybercriminals.
