A functional miniature Mac, inspired by the original 1984 Apple computer, has been created by Nick Gillard and named pico-mac-nano. It is 62mm high, features USB keyboard and mouse support, and can be carried anywhere.
Nick Gillard managed to replicate the original Macintosh screen by using an LCD screen with a resolution of 640x480 pixels and adjusting the firmware to output the required image size. The components fit inside a tiny 3D printed case, with a smaller Raspberry Pi Pico Board.
The miniature Apple Mac has a design reminiscent of the original computer, including a 1-bit rainbow Apple-style logo, a micro-SD card slot, and USB-C port placement matching the original. It also comes with a recreated 'Picasso' box made from corrugated cardboard.
The project, named pico-mac-nano, is open-source, allowing users to purchase the parts and create their own functional miniature Apple Mac. The creator, Nick Gillard, aims to offer a collector's edition complete with custom box, inserts, and accessories.
