NASA astronauts Sunita “Suni” Williams and Barry “Butch” Wilmore returned to Earth after a nine-month stay on the International Space Station.
Their return was delayed due to leaks and thruster problems on the Boeing Starliner spacecraft they used for the journey.
Boeing's Starliner project faced cost overruns and delays, while SpaceX successfully conducted its first crewed flight with the Crew Dragon spacecraft in 2020.
SpaceX CEO Elon Musk claimed to have offered to bring the astronauts home earlier, but NASA and White House officials deny being aware of any such offer.
