According to the IAS Civil List 2024, there is a shortage of 1,316 IAS officers out of a total authorised strength of 6,858.
The Indian Police Service (IPS) has 586 vacancies against the sanctioned strength of 5,055, and the Indian Forest Service (IFS) has 1,042 vacancies against the sanctioned strength of 3,193.
The Standing Committee on Personnel, Public Grievances and Law & Justice has expressed concern over the vacancies and emphasized the need to enhance the recruitment process.
