<ul><li>According to the IAS Civil List 2024, there is a shortage of 1,316 IAS officers out of a total authorised strength of 6,858.</li><li>The Indian Police Service (IPS) has 586 vacancies against the sanctioned strength of 5,055, and the Indian Forest Service (IFS) has 1,042 vacancies against the sanctioned strength of 3,193.</li><li>The Standing Committee on Personnel, Public Grievances and Law & Justice has expressed concern over the vacancies and emphasized the need to enhance the recruitment process.</li><li>The Committee recommended the implementation of an online tracking and submission portal for State governments to ensure timely determination of vacancies in the IAS promotion quota.</li></ul>
