Neuralink's brain-computer interface (BCI) device, Link, has received FDA's 'breakthrough' designation for restoring communication in patients with severe speech impairment.
The Link device aims to help individuals with conditions such as ALS, stroke, spinal cord injury, cerebral palsy, and multiple sclerosis by utilizing AI to enable communication.
A participant of Neuralink's PRIME Study, Bradford G. Smith, who has ALS, showcased the device's ability to restore his communication through brain control, enhancing his communication and mobility.
Neuralink is focusing on empowering individuals with neurological conditions through innovative assistive solutions, with plans to expand trials worldwide and further develop capabilities for vision restoration and other health challenges.
