Klarna is piloting a card that combines debit and buy now, pay later (BNPL) features, allowing users to switch between payment modes seamlessly.
The Klarna Card, built on Visa's Flexible Credential, lets users pay with stored cash or activate Klarna's Pay in 4 and pay later plans at Visa-accepting merchants.
A wider launch in the U.S. and Europe is planned later this year, with over 5 million consumers already on the waitlist for the card.
Visa's Flexible Credential enables flexibility for consumers to choose between debit, installments, and future rewards on a single card, aligning with Klarna's vision for payment simplicity and transparency.
