The New York Robotics Network is building a community in the metro area and worldwide, organising events to help startups, engineers, investors, and end users connect.
Jacob Hennessey-Rubin, founding board member, and Randy Howie, founding board member and senior operating director, revealed the founders spotted an opportunity to build an ecosystem that supports robotics startups, industry, investors, and partners in the Tri-state area.
NYRN’s mission is to help empower and support the diverse membership as they manage the complexity of the world’s fastest-growing tech ecosystem, forge partnerships with partners across the globe, represent the region’s robotics ecosystem domestically and globally, and expand the robotics industry within the New York metro area.
NYRN¹s primary industry sectors include medical/bio/lab, construction and infrastructure, advanced manufacturing, art and theater, food and hospitality, and warehouse and logistics.
NYRN works to connect startups, engineers, investors, and end users and is less focused around one or two universities, getting grants, or directly incubating startups.
NYRN currently counts 100+ startups in their index. Founders of companies such as Adagy have come to New York from other locations, and startups like Joby, Phantom, or Zoox have hired remote workers.
NYRN has put on more than 10 networking events for the community in the past three years and has signed 501(c)(6) nonprofit incorporation papers.
NYRN is developing country focus groups for countries investing in robotics, including Japan, UK, France, Germany, Israel, the Netherlands and Denmark.
NYRN seeks to establish the region as a leading hub for robotics excellence and to propel the industry toward a future of transformative impact and global leadership.
NYRN is planning to provide career and business development services and acceleration opportunities and is partnering with AcceleratorCON.
