The National Government's debt service bill increased significantly in April, with amortization payments more than doubling compared to last year.
In April, the debt service bill rose by 73.72% year-on-year to P280.9 billion, mainly driven by a surge in amortization payments to P234.45 billion.
The bulk of debt payments in April were attributed to principal payments on domestic debt, which saw a substantial increase of 208.23% from the previous year.
For the first four months of the year, the NG debt service bill stood at P622.92 billion, marking a 45.73% decline from the same period last year, with amortization payments accounting for a significant portion of the total.
