The NSE Nifty 50 closed 0.33% lower at 24,750.7, while the BSE Sensex ended 0.22% down at 81,451.01.
Zomato's parent company Eternal Ltd., State Bank of India, HDFC Bank, Larsen & Toubro, and Bajaj Finserv were the top gainers in the NSE Nifty 50.
On the other hand, Bajaj Auto, Hindalco Industries, HCL Technologies, Shriram Finance, and Nestle India were among the top laggards.
The Nifty index fell by 0.4% for the week, with the Nifty FMCG sector being a primary drag, marking the second consecutive week of losses for the benchmark equity indices in a volatile market environment.
