Pou Chen, a Taiwanese footwear manufacturer, will invest $281 million to set up a facility in Tamil Nadu, India.
The investment could create 20,000 jobs in Tamil Nadu over 12 years, with a focus on employing women.
This is Pou Chen's first of many investments in India, following similar moves by other Taiwanese footwear manufacturers.
Tamil Nadu is a popular destination for global companies, with top brands like Gucci and Giorgio Armani sourcing raw materials or making products there.
