Nissan is experiencing production setbacks for its third-generation Leaf due to Chinese export restrictions on rare-earth elements crucial for electronics and electric motors.
The restrictions have led to a shortage of spare parts for the Leaf, resulting in reduced output at Nissan's factory in Japan.
In addition to the rare-earth element issue, Nissan is also facing challenges due to President Trump's policies, including the end of federal tax incentives for clean energy vehicles.
As a result, Nissan is delaying the production of two EVs in Mississippi by 10 months each and had previously cancelled a pair of electric sedans due to market conditions.
